“…Figure 9 also indicate initial adsorption is very rapid and slow approach to equilibrium. A similar finding has been reported for removal of fluoride onto lanthanum incorporated chitosan beads 27,29 . In the present study, two main types of kinetic models viz.…”

“…The extent of percentage of adsorption increased with increase in the adsorbent dose while loading capacity (amount of fluoride adsorbed per g of the adsorbent) gradually decreased for decreasing the number of interaction site between the adsorbent and adsorbate. This is probably due to increase of adsorption sites [28][29] . From the trend it appears that a maximum level (51.3 to 97.6 %) of fluoride adsorption occurs with increase in adsorbent dose from 0.2 to 2.4 g L -1 and then the adsorption is not changed with the adsorbent dose due to establishment of equilibrium condition 27 . Distribution coefficient (K DC ) usually calculated in this study to define the partitioning of an element in a system.…”

“…16 Meanwhile, enhanced F removal was also reported for La impregnation on various supports such as gelatine, 18 amberlite resins, 19 and chitosan. 20,21 However, the synthesis procedure for La-doped AA (LAA) was not fully optimized. The La impregnation on AA achieved previously was 3.3%, 16,22 which could potentially be increased to improve F adsorption.…”

“…Among various polysaccharides, chitin and chitosan derivatives have been gained wide attention as effective biosorbents due to their low cost and high contents of amine and hydroxyl functional groups which show significant adsorption potential for the removal of various aquatic pollutants [26][27][28][29][30][31]. Dextran is another polysaccharide that possesses a complex glucan structure of nearly 5-10% (1,3) α-linked branched units, on average; along with its major linear backbone composed of (1,6) α-D-glycoside residues derived from bacterial sources having three hydroxyl functional groups per each glucose moiety.…”
