Fluorescence of Mg-Al-Eu Ternary Layered Double Hydroxide Sensitivity to Phenylalanine

Abstract: We reported for the first time the fluorescence sensitivity of a Mg-Al-Eu ternary layered double hydroxide (LDH) to phenylalanine (Phe). As shown in fluorescent spectra, the red emissions resulted from (5)D(0)-(7)F(J) transition (J=1, 2) of Eu(3+) were quenched by Phe, and a strong peak around at 492 nm emerged. A strong interaction between the Mg-Al-Eu LDH and Phe was manifested by markedly different chemical shift positions of the Mg 2p, Al 2p, Eu 4d, O 1 s, and C 1 s peaks in the XPS spectra from those of t… Show more

“…Even in the case where successful incorporation was reported, only limited doping of RE elements was attained. [12][13][14][15] Furthermore, the obtained samples were mostly poorly crystalline, which made it difficult to fully verify the intrinsic doping. [12][13][14][15][16][17] In view of these drawbacks, efforts to attain new multifunctional materials coupling both novel properties of RE elements and anion-exchangeability have not witnessed significant progress.…”

“…20,21 The established works on ternary LDHs are limited to definite applications as catalysts in organic transformations and fluorescence sensitivity. 22,23 In this paper, we have reported the designing of a ternary Mg/(Al + Fe) LDH and investigated the effect of substituting Fe 3+ ions into the LDH structure. The main objective of our study is to investigate the effective and fast removal of malachite green (MG) dye by Mg/(Al + Fe) LDH from contaminated water.…”

“…5,6 Works on ternary hydrotalcites have extended to certain applications like catalysts in the field of organic transformation reactions and fluorescence sensitivity. [7][8][9] LDHs with a cation doping capacity at the octahedral sites of the brucite layers reflected the properties of a doped semiconductor towards photocatalysis. 10 Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have received much attention in the past decades due to their applicability as photocatalysts.…”
