Enhanced leukocyte entrapment in the retinal microcirculation was induced in the early stage of hypercholesterolemia. Entrapment was increased as the period of hypercholesterolemia was prolonged. Leukocyte accumulation in the retina may be an early vascular dysfunction leading to arteriosclerosis in hypercholesterolemia.
