Fluctuation spectroscopy: From Rayleigh-Jeans waves to Abrikosov vortex clusters

Abstract: 5 We define the FCP concentration in d-dimensional space. This means that it determines the number of pairs per volume in the 3D case, the number of pairs per unit square in the 2D case, and the number of pairs per unit length in 1D. Since both wires and films are actual objects in three dimensional space, we can approximate the 3D concentration of FCPs,Ñ (3) , byÑ (3) = N (1) /s 2 for wires, where s 2 is the wire cross-section andÑ (3) = N (2) /s for films, where s is the thickness of the film, respectively.

“…Anisotropy enhances fluctuations but there is practically no anisotropy in β − Bi 2 P d 22,23 . However, fluctuations are enhanced for large wavelengths, by taking into account nonlocal elastic interactions, and in presence of pinning induced disorder due to the mobility of dislocations and defects of the flux lattice 89,[94][95][96][97] . Vortex nucleation occurs here very close to the zero field T c for very low magnetic fields, which would suggest that fluctuations might play a role.…”

“…Fluctuating Cooper pairs in conventional superconductors alter the thermodynamics of the normal state only in the critical region ∆T Gi . The conductivity and the magnetic susceptibility [43] are however not only singular at the critical temperature, but have long high temperature tails [45]. The high temperature tail for the diamag-netic susceptibility χ ∼ χ L / ln 2 [T /T 0 ], where χ L is the Landau diamagnetic susceptibility in the normal state, was predicted [63][64][65] theoretically and observed in experiments [45].…”
