Flexural Strength Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Members with Ultra High Performance Concrete

Abstract: Flexural strength evaluation models for steel fiber reinforced ultra high strength concrete were suggested and evaluated with test results. Suggested flexural strength models were composed of compression stress blocks and tension stress blocks. Rectangular stress block, triangular stress block, and real distribution shape of stress were used on compression side. Under tension, rectangular stress block distributed to whole area of tension side and partial area of tension side was used. The last model for tensio… Show more

“…ey reported that the bearing capacity of HSFRC increased with the steel fiber volume dosage. In addition, a flexural analysis of ultra-high-performance concrete beams, which can be regarded as a kind of HSFRC, was suggested by Chen and Graybeal [22], Bae et al [23], and Ning et al [24].…”

“…However, consideration of these assumptions to calculate the flexural strength of high strength concrete cannot give accurate results for two reasons, the first reason is high strength concrete has much higher compressive strength than normal strength concrete, and the second reason is steel fibres are usually contained. In order to obtain more accurate results, the stress distribution at compression zone must be changed from the rectangular shape to a more convenient shape or at least, its stress parameter must be changed to more accurate parameters [11].…”

“…In construction industry, high-performance concrete (HPC) has been widely used in high-rise building/infrastructure projects for its superior strength, durability, and workability which exceed those of normal concrete [1,2]. Generally, special ingredients are employed to make these specially designed concretes to satisfy a combination of performance requirements.…”
