To improve interface bonding stress, early-strength self-compacting shrinkage-compensating high-performance concrete (ESS-HPC) was selected as an excellent strengthening material to investigate by direct shear test. Tests on seventeen Z-type specimens were carried out considering the ESS-HPC and ordinary concrete substrate (OCS) compressive strength grade, the ESS-HPC curing age, the OCS surface roughness, and the ratio of steel shear dowels as the variables. A bond stress–slip model of the interface was proposed via statistical fitting. The results show that the surface roughness and ratios of steel shear dowels had the most important influence on the shear bond stress. The shear bond stress of the specimens without steel shear dowels increased by almost 15% as the ESS-HPC strength grade changed from C60 to C75. With the increase in the curing age, the shear bond stress showed a changing trend of first increasing and then decreasing. The coarser surface with the drilling method can improve the shear bond stress by 89%. To achieve a secondary increase in the shear bond stress of specimens with steel shear dowels, the minimum ratio of steel shear dowels was 0.83%. Analytical equations are proposed in combination with the CEB-FIB Model 2010 and AASHTO Model. The calculated results show reasonable agreement with the experimental results within an acceptable range.

To solve the problem of insufficient transverse connection of T-girder bridges, this paper investigated the strengthening method of two composite trusses symmetrically installed in mid-span. The composite truss included two top plates, four diagonal braces, and one horizontal brace. An experimental investigation was carried out to study the mechanical properties of reinforced concrete T-girder using single-point loading method under four load cases. The experimental results showed that the maximum transverse stiffness of T-girder specimens strengthened with composite trusses improved by 12.4% compared with control beams. Simultaneously, it had an excellent restraining effect on the cracks development. The maximum percentage decrease in the deflection corresponding to the maximum load when the reinforced concrete T-girder strengthened with composite trusses over the control beam of up to 39.7 was observed. In addition, the load transverse distribution coefficient was investigated according to rigid-jointed slab (girder) method. The composite trusses were chosen as intermediate diaphragm to calculate moment of inertia. The analytical model was in an accurate with the experimental result under the same loading condition. The optimize spacing of composite trusses was given from 600 mm ( L/10) to 1200 mm ( L/5), and thickness of top plate was 30 mm when the load transverse distribution coefficient was homogeneously distributed. Finally, a three-dimensional finite element model was used to evaluate the effectiveness of composite trusses.

The main objective of this research is to investigate experimentally the viability and effectiveness of the proposed ferrocement permanent forms and the effect of the test parameters on the behavior of the reinforced concrete ferrocement beams. And investigate the viability of using lightweight materials for the core with the aim of producing light weight structural system. The experimental program comprised casting and testing of eleven reinforced concrete beams of dimensions 200x100x2000mm.These beams are organized in four groups. Group one is the control group in which beams are cast using ordinary formwork and ferrocement. The beams in this group were reinforced with two steel bars of 10 mm at the top and12mm bottom of the beams. The beams in the other three groups were cast using Ferrocement beams. The core of these beams was reinforced with two steel bars of 10 mm diameter at the top and12 mm bottom of the beam. Two types of steel mesh used to reinforce the ferrocement beams namely expanded steel mesh, and welded wires mesh. Single mesh and double layers consisting of mesh together with a strip steel mesh were studied. Three types of core material were investigated: light brick, foam, and light weight concrete admixture with perlite. The test specimens were cast and tested until they failed under flexure load. The performance of the test beams in terms of strength, cracking behavior, ductility, and energy absorption properties was investigated. The use double layer of expanded steel mesh as the additional reinforcement of the main steel can achieved the best performance of the Light weight of ferrocement beams. The results of this research showed that ferrocement beams of light weight cores may be promising as an alternative to conventional beams and may be viable alternatives especially for low-cost residential buildings.
