Bamboo as a natural resource is very common used in constructio, such as columns and beams, also can be used as architectural elements. The form of bamboo as a reinforcement is still under identification by many scholars to find an optimum shape and form of bamboo, thus it may be applied as concrete reinforcement since bamboo can improve concrete’s flexural strength. An experimental test conduct in order to identify the role of perpendicular pivot end in bamboo reinforced concrete beams by observing the flexural capacity improvement. Four concrete beams with the dimension of 15 cm x 25 cm x 170 cm were made with 2 cm of square section of the lateral bamboo reinforcement and Ø8 – 100 steel rebar as the shear reinforcement to prohibit the shear failure. The beams were loaded under three-point bending with the point loading in the middle of the span. Based on the experimental result, the beams which equipped by the perpendicular pivot end could improve the load capacity up to 33% higher than the beam without the pivot end. This is proofed that the pivot can improve the flexural capacity of the bamboo reinforced beam and considerable to develop in the bamboo reinforcement beam.

This study aimed to determine the validity of the development of bamboo massage tool as a learning media for Body Massage Care course regarding product validity tests, sensory tests, and preference tests. The research method used is Research and Development (RD), using seven development steps with a quantitative approach. The research subjects are 25 students receiving body care course using media. Data analysis techniques use descriptive percentages. The research results on the product validity test aspect obtained an average total value of 85.38% of the six indicators: shape, size, quality, strength, function and benefits, and ease of use. The sensory test results were 86.02% of the four indicators: shape, size, ease of use, and functions and benefits. The preference test results were 91.06% of the four indicators, namely shape, size, ease of use, and quality. The conclusions from the research based on the validity, sensory, and preference tests are very feasible.

In this article, the effect of weathering and corrosion on the bond properties of bamboo- and steel-reinforced cement-stabilized rammed earth blocks was investigated. The treated, untreated bamboo and steel reinforcement types were considered under regular and weathered categories. Reinforcement of 8 mm, 10 mm and 12 mm diameters were used along with 10% of cement as stabilizer. A total of 90 reinforced cement-stabilized rammed earth blocks were prepared and tested for bond strength. The investigation shows that the bond force and bond strength of all the blocks reduced due to weathering and corrosion of reinforcement. In case of blocks with bamboo reinforcement only, a minor reduction in bond properties (bond force and bond strength) was identified, but in case of blocks with steel reinforcement, a major reduction in bond properties was identified. All the blocks failed by either lateral splitting, pullout or pullout along with lateral splitting. However, the pullout failure was observed only in the blocks with weathered or corroded reinforcement, making it clear that the mode of failure was influenced by the type and physical condition of the reinforcement. Based on the results obtained, it was not advisable to use of corroded steel (CS) bars as reinforcement in rammed earth. However, considering the bond properties, treated bamboo can be a potential and economical alternative to CS. A series of statistical analysis was performed using the test data to predict the bond properties correlating perimeter, diameter, type and condition of reinforcement. The regression equations generated from statistical analysis represent a strong correlation between the actual and predicted values and can be used for predicting the bond properties of rammed earth accurately.
