Abstract

Abstract:In Brazil, the Solanaceae family has 31 genus and about 500 native species. The genus Solanum is the largest and most complex of his family. It is estimated that the genus consists about 1500 species and 5000 epithets that are located in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, South America being the center of greatest diversity of his kind. The class of secondary metabolites found in most species of the genus Solanum are flavonoids and alkaloids on which the flavonoids are involved in a variety of biological processes and can be used as taxonomic markers because in some species specificity. With purpose to contribute as a tool to the genus chemosystematics, this paper is a flavonoid review described in the literature, with a register of 88 substances since 2002.Keywords: Solanum; flavonoids; chemosystematic. ResumoNo Brasil, a família Solanaceae apresenta 31 gêneros e cerca de 500 espécies nativas. O gênero Solanum é o maior e mais complexo desta família. Estima-se que o gênero possua cerca de 1500 espécies e 5000 epítetos que estão localizados nas regiões tropicais e subtropicais do mundo, sendo a América do Sul o centro de maior diversidade desse gênero. As principais classes de metabólitos secundários encontrados nas espécies do gênero Solanum são os alcaloides e flavonoides, estes últimos podem ser utilizados como marcadores taxonômicos devido à especificidade em algumas espécies. Com o objetivo de contribuir para a quimiossistemática do gênero, o presente trabalho traz uma revisão dos flavonoides descritos na literatura, com o registro de 88 substâncias, a partir do ano de 2002.
