“…Within aquatic habitats Flavobacterium are involved in the metabolism of various organic compounds, including carbohydrates and polysaccharides (Bernardet and Bowman 2006), cellulose derivatives (Bernardet and Bowman 2006), and cellulose (Lednicka et al 2000), which could explain their high abundance in the most urban streams and their high abundance on the CES cellulose substrates.
