Five zinc finger protein 350 single nucleotide polymorphisms and the risks of breast cancer: a meta-analysis

Abstract: Some studies have reported an association between the zinc-finger protein 350 (ZNF350), also known as zinc-finger and BRCA1-interacting protein with a Kruppel-associated box (KRAB) domain (ZBRK1), and risks of breast cancer, although the results remain controversial. A systematic search was conducted on PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, Ovid, Chinese National Knowledge Databases, and WanFang databases with relevant keywords. Four studies of five distinct populations involving 5824 breast cancer cases were used t… Show more

“…The latest survey shows more than 2000 million newly diagnosed patients of breast cancer have occurred in the worldwide. And the incidence and mortality of breast cancer have increased by nearly 18% since 2008 [2]. Breast cancer is a diverse hormone-dependent carcinoma, with both genetic and epigenetic changes leading to initiation, progression and metastasis [3].…”

“…Based on these data, we were particularly interested in ZNF350 encoding zinc finger protein 350 (ZNF350/ZBRK1) that has been suggested to function as a tumor suppressor, namely repression of metastasis/invasion, via interaction with breast cancer 1 (BRCA1) and KRAB-ZFP-associated protein 1 (KAP1) [15]. Notably, ZNF350 mRNA expression in the MG cells was reduced to 13% compared to that in non-MG cells (Figure 6A), and treatment with 5-azacytidine increased its expression by 8-fold (Figure 6B).…”

“…Even though it was not the purpose of the present paper to decipher a diagnostic tool, a useful contribution of elemental analysis to diagnostic is supported by the role trace element have in some enzymes involved in disease progression, e.g. metalloproteinases 54 as well as in many zinc finger motives involved in reprogramming breast cancer transcriptional network 55,56 related to metastasis.…”
