Fistulotomy followed by anal sphincter reconstruction – indications, benefits and pitfalls of the method

Abstract: Fistula-in-ano is a disease which has challenged surgeons for centuries because of high postoperative complication rates including recurrences, and symptoms of postoperative gas and stool incontinence.
