“…It may result from excessive separation and cutting of the sphincter during the operation or from muscle damage following infection during abscess formation. Loss of control of any degree occurred in 6% of patients in our series (four non‐CD and one CD patient), a somewhat lower rate than that of 8–14% reported in the literature [13,14]. It is possible that this difference stems from the fact that all the patients in our series were operated on by an experienced colorectal surgeon.…”
