Fission yeast type 2 node proteins Blt1p and Gef2p cooperate to ensure timely completion of cytokinesis

Abstract: Background The conserved NDR-family kinase Sid2p localizes to the contractile ring during fission yeast cytokinesis to promote ring constriction, septation, and completion of cell division. Previous studies have found that the Type 2 interphase node proteins Blt1p and Gef2p contribute to localization of Sid2p and its regulatory protein Mob1p at the division site. However, their relative contributions and whether they operate in the same or parallel pathways has been unclear. In this study, we quan… Show more

“…Supplementation with approximately 5.5 mM d -glucose approximates normal blood sugar levels, while concentrations of glucose around 10 mM and above 10 mM are analogous to pre-diabetic and diabetic levels respectively [ 24 , 32 ]. Although high glucose concentrations are known to have detrimental effects on many cell types, it is not uncommon for media to contain diabetic levels of glucose supplementation, nor scientists to study the effect of such glucose levels [ 33 , 34 , 35 ]. Our previous study [ 16 ] was performed in Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium (DMEM) supplemented with 25 mM of d -glucose, which is conventional for MCF7 and T47D cells.…”

“…Inspired by the promising results of data-centric approaches, several data-informed models have been introduced. For example, temporal models have incorporated either temporal RNA-sequencing data [ 22 , 23 ], or time series observations of neural activity [ 24 ] while spatiotemporal models have been calibrated with morphologic data [ 25 ]. These data-driven models depend on group average data without individual cell resolution.…”

“…Metabolic labeling with substantial glucose indicates that it can be derived from glucose metabolism [ 9 ]. It has significant effects on glycolytic enzyme activities and can build up on cells with high glucose exposure [ 11 ]. Potential feedback mechanism that contributes to the creation and redirection of glycolytic intermediates to specific biosynthetic pathways is also established [ 8 11 ].…”

Potential feedback mechanism that contributes to the creation and redirection of glycolytic intermediates to specific biosynthetic pathways is also established [ 8 11 ]. Concerning the crucial role of phosphoglycerylation in such biological processes, the effective way to characterize its functional aspects is to identify phosphoglycerylation sites with higher efficacy.…”
