Craniofacial harpoon injuries are extremely rare, especially when caused by attempted suicide. The approach to surgical removal becomes dependent on the characteristics of the device, with or without barbs on the spear, and its path, which presents with significant changes between accidents and suicide attempts. This report presents the successful treatment carried out in a dramatic case of harpoon suicide attempt. The approaches to complete and cautious removal of the spear from the occipital region, reconstruction of the orbital cavity, evisceration of the left eyeball due to amaurosis and psychiatric follow-up were successful, which allowed the restoration of the patient's physical and mental health.

Wooden foreign body in the two pterigomaxillary fossae. Report of one case We report a 72 years old male that received wooden fragments in the face, thrown by a wood grinding machine. At presentation, he had multiple facial and cervical wounds and a foreign body that passed from the left zygomatic region to the right retromaxilar region. A CAT scan showed that the foreign body crossed from the left zygomatic arc to the pterigomaxillary fossa, crossing it and exiting from the mandibular notch. The patient was operated, a Lefort I osteotomy was performed and the foreign body removed. He was discharged seven days later with left frontal and right orbital pareses.

Spear gun projectiles injuries are are very rare and are usually related to lack of attention during water- sports or fishing practices. This study aims to describe an unusual case of facial injury associated with a mandibular fracture after a spear gun shot. A 38-years-old man was admitted with a history of penetrating injury on the face caused by an accidental shot from a spear gun. After the initial stabilization and examination, the patient was taken to the surgical room for the removal of the projectile. The post-operative care was uneventful and the patient was discharged with no concerns, being in follow-up for one year with no signs of infection or malocclusion. The surgical procedure should be done as soon as possible and the removal of the spear must be done carefully, under direct vision, with or without surgical incisions. Major complications can occur after spear injuries, therefore, the patient must be observed in the postoperative period and should maintain follow up until the end of the rehabilitative process.
