“…In Chaumont Bay, McKenna and Johnson (2009) reported larval lake whitefish mean growth rates of 0.36 mm/day, with slower growth in April (0.12 mm/day) than in May (0.39 mm/day). During the month of May in the Bay of Quinte, Hoyle (1992) found larval lake whitefish growth rates of approximately 0.38 mm/day and Pritchard (1931) describe cisco growth rates of approximately 0.47 mm/day. At times, we observed declining or negative growth rates which we inferred to be due to the emergence of newly‐hatched larvae and avoidance of the net by larger larvae (Barkley, 1972).…”
