“…We wanted to separate the effects of fish activity and saturation from the gillnet catch to get a corrected catch, termed the catchable biomass rate (i.e., the weight of fish that can be caught within an hour by an empty gillnet during a period of unitary fish activity) in this paper. We described fish activity as determined by a gillnet catch in our previous study (Prchalová et al, 2010) and concluded that this activity pattern can be applied in all fish communities where fish species have activity peaks during dusk and dawn. We expected that gillnet saturation would be rather constant among various bodies of water because we consider it to be a mechanical phenomenon.…”
