“…Of course, the records from the state of Mato Grosso may represent a recent occurrence of the mycoparasite, possibly introduced together with the exotic rust species O. tectonae. The latter was recorded for the first time in Brazil by Cabral et al (2010) on the exotic timber tree Tectona grandis. As the state of Mato Grosso is distant from the coffee producing areas of Brazil, where H. vastatrix commonly occurs, the fungus may not have been able, as yet, to spread to these areas; or, perhaps, because surveys of mycoparasites of H. vastatrix in Brazil have to date involved only limited sampling, concentrated in the south-eastern states, D. tectonae may also be present on CLR but has remained undetected.…”

“…Olivea tectonae causing teak leaf rust disease is a widely distributed pathogen in Asia and more recently has been reported from Australia, and Central and South America (Daly 2006; Cabral 2010). However, as far as could be established, teak rust disease has never been reported in Africa (Doilom et al , 2016).…”

“…The disease became established through natural infection from an inoculum source that probably was already present in the study area. When first symptoms became evident, some non-marked leaves were collected and brought to the laboratory, in order to carry out the diagnosis (Cabral et al 2010). Rust incidence was computed taking into account the number of leaves of each tree with rust symptoms related to the total sample, expressed in percentage.…”
