“…Although resistance to MBI‐D, isoprothiolane, carbendazim, iprobenfos and prochloraz has been extensively reported, 17,21–23,44 resistance of M. oryzae , causing rice blast, to QoI fungicides was only detected in Brazil and Italy 20,45 . Moreover, QoIs have been reported to stimulate pathogenicity‐associated toxins in some pathogens 46 . Because of this, a combination of QoIs and other fungicides with different modes of action was recommended in the practice.…”

“…Among these, strobilurin resistance in P. oryzae was first observed in strains isolated from perennial ryegrass, Lolium perenne [18], followed by its diffused presence in wheat isolates (Triticum aestivum) [2,19]. In rice isolates, QoI-resistance was first described in 2013 in Japan [20] and was absent from Europe until 2021, when it was detected in Italy [21]. This poses a threat to the European risiculture sector, as widespread distribution of such resistant strains would seriously compromise rice blast management with the available means.…”

“…In this light, the conventional disease control systems had become inefficient and essentially untrustworthy due to the ongoing agricultural cultivation's tendency to provoke disease outbreaks. Meanwhile, the fungicide resistance limits the fungicidal usage against plant pathogens, and it is evident with the emergence of Quinone outside Inhibitor (QoI) in the Italian population of Pyricularia oryzae has alarmed the farming community to revise and rethink about its practical credibility in the field (Magar et al, 2015; Tenni et al, 2021). Inappropriate and non‐judicious use of synthetic pesticides results in harmful effects to environment, which is of severe public concern today (Wang, Ma, et al, 2015; Wang, Mavrodi, et al, 2015).…”
