First Report of Crown Rot Caused by Phytophthora tropicalis on Gloxinia in North Carolina

Abstract: In 2007, wilting and crown rot were observed on recently transplanted gloxinias (a popular ornamental houseplant) in a commercial greenhouse in North Carolina. The pathogen was identified as Phytophthora tropicalis based on morphology and sequencing of the ITS rDNA region.
