ABSTRACT:The ichneumonid fauna of Vietnam has been studied since the early 20 th century, but records of this large insect group were published in scattered papers. In this paper ichneumonid wasps from Vietnam are reviewed and a checklist of published species with local and world distribution is provided. Up to now, 246 ichneumonid species in 87 genera of 18 subfamilies have been recorded from Vietnam. Of this number, one genus and no fewer than 70 species were described on the basis of material collected from Vietnam. In the checklist, valid names, first citation, holotype deposition and synonyms that used previously in Vietnam are provided. In addition, ten species are recorded for the first time from Vietnam, viz. Acerataspis clavata (Uchida, 1934) (Cameron, 1897). Specimens of the aforementioned ten species are currently deposited at Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (IEBR), Ha Noi, Vietnam. Additionally, host information is available for 25 species that are parasitoids of agricultural pests. This paper provides useful information for further studies on one of the largest hymenopteran families of Vietnam.

In this paper, 48 ichneumonid species of 14 genera, two tribes of the subfamily Pimplinae were listed on the basis of material collected during the time from 2003 to 2011 in four provinces from the Central Highlands of Vietnam and a lesser degree of previous records. Among 48 aforemention pimpline no less than 16 species were described recently as new for science. The diversity of topography and vegetation types resulted in the high level of species richness and new discoveries of the region. Bài báo này giới thiệu danh sách 48 loài ong cự thuộc 14 giống, 2 tộc của phân họ Pimplinae dựa trên việc phân tích các mẫu vật thu tại Tây Nguyên trong thời gian từ năm 2003–2011 và một số ít loài dựa trên các ghi nhận trước đây. Trong số đó, 16 loài mới được mô tả trong thời gian 5 năm trở lại đây. Sự đa dạng về địa hình và các kiểu thảm thực vật khác nhau đã tạo nên tính đa dạng thành phần loài và các phát hiện mới của ong cự ở khu vực Tây Nguyên đầy tiềm năng này.

Host Preference of <i>Xanthopimpla</i> Saussure Parasitising <i>Sesamia inferens</i> Walker

Host selection sequence of two parasitoids of under the genus Xanthopimpla Saussure viz., Xanthopimpla flavolineata (Xf) Cameron [Xf] and X. stemmator (Thunberg) (Xs) and suitability of various pupal stages of Sesamia inferens as a factitious host for rearing was investigated. There was no significant difference in egg laying between the single and repeated attempts by both Xf and Xs. The probing time of Xf and Xs in the rice stem with concealed host (2.26± 0.10 and 1.60± 0.13 min) and a hollow stem without a host was found to be 1.19± 0.14 and 0.59± 0.15 min, respectively. However, Xs did not parasitize the naked pupa. The number of ovipositor insertions was 1.50± 0.17 in concealed pupae and 0.92± 0.15 in hollow stem without host. Among the stages of S. inferens pupae tested for acceptance by Xf and Xs, the prepupa was preferred the most followed by one- and two-day-old pupa, while five- and six-day-old pupae were not preferred.
