First record of Permian age palynomorphs in the Río Francia Formation (Upper Paleozoic, San Juan, Argentina)

Show more

“…The palynoassemblage of the present study shows a correlation with the Permo‐Carboniferous palynoassemblage from the Río Francia Formation of San Juan Province, Argentina (Gutiérrez, Correa, & Carrevedo, 2010). The middle portion of this Formation comprises Callumispora ( Punctatisporites ), Calamospora sp., Parasaccites ( Cannanoropollis ), Crucisaccites , whereas the upper part of this formation is dominated by monosaccate, bisaccate, and striate pollen grains like Parasaccites ( Cannanoropollis ), Crucisaccites latisulcatus , Faunipollenites ( Protohaploxypinus ) , Scheuringipollenites barakarensis , Striatopodocarpites , Weylandites , and scarce trilete spores.…”

“…The palynoassemblage of the present study shows a correlation with the Permo-Carboniferous palynoassemblage from the Río Francia Formation of San Juan Province, Argentina (Gutiérrez, Correa, & Carrevedo, 2010) The age assessment envisaged for the studied section of the Ganmachidam Formation is also bracketed from late Pennsylvanian-Early…”

“…The FS Zone has been recognized in the Patquía (Vergel, 2008;Césari et al, 2013;Perez Loinaze et al, 2014;this paper), Andapaico (lower part) (Correa et al, 2012;Balarino et al, 2012;this paper) and in La Deheza (middle part) (Correa and Gutiérrez, 2014;Balarino et al, 2016; this paper) formations. The microfloras recorded from the La Veteada (lower part) (Aceñolaza and Vergel, 1987;Gutiérrez et al, 2011), Río Francia (Gutiérrez et al, 2010a), Andapaico (upper part) (Correa et al, 2012;Balarino et al, 2012;this paper) and La Deheza (upper part) (Correa and Gutiérrez, 2014;Balarino et al, 2016; this paper) formations were referred to the LW Zone (Fig. 2).…”
