Introducción: Loxaulus hyalinus es un cinípido (Hymenoptera) que ataca encinares (Quercus laeta Liebm.) de la Ciudad de México. La biología y el potencial de daño del insecto se desconoce. Objetivos: Describir la biología de la fase sexual de L. hyalinus y sus efectos en Q. laeta, así como enlistar los inquilinos y parasitoides asociados. Materiales y métodos: Para determinar el periodo de cada estado de L. hyalinus se recolectaron agallas de ramillas infestadas que se disecaron periódicamente, para describir su desarrollo y la presencia de inquilinos y parasitoides en el periodo 2019- 2022. Resultados y discusión: La generación sexual inició a partir de octubre cuando se observaron los primeros síntomas del desarrollo de las agallas en ramillas, y concluyó en mayo del siguiente año, cuando los adultos emergieron. La presencia de una gran cantidad de agallas altera el patrón de crecimiento de la copa de los árboles. Se encontraron dos especies de Synergus como inquilinos y nueve géneros de parasitoides calcidoideos asociados a L. hyalinus. Conclusiones: La generación sexual de L. hyalinus se desarrolla en las agallas de ramilla y su único hospedante confirmado es Q. laeta. Dicha plaga no ocasiona la muerte de su hospedante, pero sí afecta severamente la forma de la copa.

We describe Diastrophus colombianus Nieves-Aldrey sp. nov., a gall inducer on Rubus glaucus Bentham (Rosaceae) in Colombia. This is the first reliable record of a species of Diastrophus Hartig, 1840 (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) and of an herb gall wasp (Cynipidae: “Aylacini”) native to the Neotropical region. The phylogenetic relationships among the members of Diastrophus—D. colombianus and the species considered by a previous study—were inferred from adult morphological and gall characteristics. Our results suggest that D. colombianus is more closely related to a clade composed of Diastrophus austrior Kinsey, Diastrophus rubi (Bouché), Diastrophus fragariae Beutenmüller, and Diastrophus tumefactus Kinsey.

New information is provided on the galling fauna from oaks in Santa Fe (Cuajimalpa (Mexico City) obtained from collections on Quercus laeta Liebmann, 1854 and Q. rugosa Née, 1801 (section Quercus), Q. crassipes Humboldt and Bonpland, 1809 and Q. calophylla Schlechtendal and Chamisso, 1830 (section Lobatae). Seven species are cited for the first time: Andricus fusciformis Pujade-Villar, 2014 and A. guanajuatensis Pujade-Villar, 2013; Femuros lusum Kinsey, 1937 and F. repandae Kinsey, 1937; Kokkocynips doctorrosae Pujade-Villar and Melika, 2013; Loxaulus hyalinus Pujade-Villar and Melika, 2014 and Neuroterus fusifex Pujade-Villar, 2016. Of the 12 species originally described from Santa Fe, nine of them are only known in this studied area: Amphibolips cibriani Pujade-Villar, 2011, Andricus breviramuli Pujade-Villar, 2014, A. rochai Pujade-Villar, 2018, A. santafe Pujade-Villar, 2013, Disholcaspis crystalae Pujade-Villar, 2018, Loxaulus laeta Pujade-Villar, 2014, Neuroterus eugeros Pujade-Villar, 2018, N. verrucum Pujade Villar, 2014 and Zapatella polytryposa Pujade-Villar and Fernández-Garzón, 2020. New hosts are provided for some of the mentioned species. Some galls are shown that could constitute species yet to be described. Of all mentioned species, the gall is described and illustrated, and aspects of its biology, hosts and distribution are commented.
