First record of Acanthocephala in marine copepods

“…The genus Halectinosoma Vervoort, 1962 is a large group composed of about 70 nominal species within the family Ectinosomatidae (Soyer 1972, Huys & Bodin 1997, Clément & Moore 2000, Karanovic & Pesce 2001, Wells 2007, Huys 2009, Boxshall et al 2010, Sua´rez-Morales & Fuentes-Reinés 2015. The name of this genus was first proposed as a subgenus of the genus Ectinosoma Boeck, 1865 by Lang (1944), and Vervoort's (1962) consequently designated Ectinosoma (Halectinosoma) sarsi Boeck, 1873 as the type species of the subgenus (Sua´rez-Morales & FuentesReinés 2015).…”

A new genus and species of the family Ectinosomatidae (Crustacea : Copepoda : Harpacticoida) from the groundwaters of India

“…This genus is in deed much closer to the genus Pseudobradya than to Ectinosoma, from which it was segregated. One of the characters that is traditionally used to distinguish Ha lectinosoma from Pseudobradya is the condensed maxillary endopodite in the former (Huys & Bodin 1997). Also, the position of the inner setae on the maxillary basis can be used as a very good distingui shing character between these two genera (they are al ways situated near the top of the basis in Pseudobra dya).…”

“…Although the detailed morphology is qui te conservative within the genus, some of its species have obviously been misplaced and should be referred to other genera. One of them, H. porosum Wells, 1967, was formally transfered to the genus Ectinosoma by Huys & Bodin (1997). Some others probably belong to unde scribed genera, which we will discuss later.…”
