First pressure shift measurement of ozone molecular lines at 9.54 μm using a tunable quantum cascade laser

Abstract: Using a free-running distributed-feedback quantum cascade laser (QCL) emitting at 9.54 µm, the pressure shift parameters of four intense rovibrational transitions in the ν 3 fundamental band of ozone induced by oxygen (O 2 ), air and the noble gases helium (He), argon (Ar), and xenon (Xe) are obtained by employing second harmonic detection. The experimental analysis comprises a full uncertainty budget and provides line shift data which are traceable to SI. The high density of transitions in the ν 3 spectral re… Show more

“…Moreover, a full uncertainty budget is desirable to assess the significance of a potential bias correction. Based on requirements in atmospheric research and air quality control [24] an uncertainty level of better than 1% should be realized, knowing that intensities are not 115 the only factors limiting the accuracy of atmospheric remote sensing in the IR which requires other spectroscopic parameters such as pressure broadening and shifting coefficients to be well specified too [15,26,27]. Corresponding investigations have been carried out by 120 several research groups and some of these very recent results are published as part of the current special issue.…”
