Acta Ichthyol. Piscat. 49 (1): 89-93.Abstract. The blackspot conger, Paraconger macrops (Günther, 1870), is a Macaronesian endemic species, hitherto known for Madeira and Azores. This work, based on by an extensive classical and molecular systematic study of one specimen captured by scuba-diving at El Hierro, provides evidence of its presence in the Canary Islands. A comparative study of the Paraconger species inhabiting the eastern Atlantic is presented.
