First observation of the breeding of common shelduck, Tadorna tadorna, in Algerian Saharan streams

Abstract: The breeding of common shelduck, Tadorna tadorna, is reported for the first time in the Ziban oasis in the north east of Algerian Sahara. Three pairs with their chicks were observed in the Sidi Mhamed Moussa stream, which contains a variety of habitats that favor the nesting of this species. This wetland is internationally important, and these results underline the need for environmental protection and the development of an appropriate management program.
