“…FMD was diagnosed according to standards of international consensus. 1,2 Since FMD onset occurs most often in young and middle-aged patients, especially women of childbearing age, this was considered an indicator for further testing, such as angiography. When angiography showed the typical beaded changes or localized isolated stenosis of main or primary branches of the renal artery, especially the middle and far segments of the main artery, the next step in diagnosis was to rule out atherosclerotic diseases, Takayasu arteritis, and other diseases such neurofibromatosis, post-traumatic pseudoaneurysms, mycotic aneurysms, by evaluating blood inflammation indexes such as serum erythrocyte sedimentation and C-reactive protein to ensure they were in the normal range.…”

“…In total, 89 (89%) patients had an immediate clinical improvement in their hypertension, including 49 (49%) patients cured, and improvement in 40 (40%) patients ( endovascular therapy in a single Chinese hospital. All the patients in this study were diagnosed using a protocol based on international standards [1][2][3]13 and most of them were treated at young age timely, which may be the main reason for the positive postoperative response to blood pressure. In general, RAS caused by FMD responds well to simple balloon dilatation.…”
