First experimental results from IBM/TENN/TULANE/LLNL/LBL undulator beamline at the advanced light source

Abstract: The IBM/TENN/TULANE/LLNL/LBL Beamline 8.0 at the advanced light source combining a 5.0 cm, 89 period undulator with a high-throughput, high-resolution spherical grating monochromator, provides a powerful excitation source over a spectral range of 70-1200 eV for surface physics and material science research. The beamline progress and the first experimental results obtained with a fluorescence end station on graphite and titanium oxides are presented here. The dispersive features in K emission spectra of graphit… Show more

“…The sample transfer chamber was sealed and mounted directly onto the ultra-high vacuum XAS characterization chamber to avoid any air exposure effects 52 . sXAS was performed at Beamline 8.0.1 of the Advanced Light Source (ALS) in LBNL 53 . The undulator and spherical grating monochromatic supply a linearly polarized photon beam with resolving power up to 6,000.…”

“…20 The beamline uses a Rowland circle type diffraction grating spectrometer with a 90 scattering angle, and the incident radiation is plane-polarized within the horizontal scattering plane. Soft XAS were measured using the spherical grating monochromator (SGM) beamline of the Canadian Light Source (CLS) at the University of Saskatchewan.…”
