“…7 Timely diagnosis is important as easy, effective, and affordable treatment is available. 1,5 Newborn presents with symptoms mimicking sepsis like fever, respiratory distress, abdominal distension, poor feeding, lethargy, seizures, and hepatosplenomegaly. 8 The clues which made us think on parallel lines were a clear X-ray picture, hepatosplenomegaly, raised total lymphocyte counts with thrombocytopenia along with positive maternal history.…”

“…2 Transplacental infection is the vertical transmission from mother to fetus, in which IgM ELISA will be positive for the baby. 1 Perinatal blood-borne infection may not have IgM positivity. IgM antibodies titer can be detected after the first week of infection, while IgG antibodies appear at the end of the second week.…”

“…No serosurvey reports on coxiellosis in Indian animals appeared after the eighties, until the recent report of coxiellosis in small ruminants of Puducherry in 2014 [32]. Evidence of animal and human abortions, neonatal septicemia, endocarditis, and atypical pneumonia due to C. burnetii based on immunofluroescence test/polymerase chain reaction (PCR) are recorded in recent Indian literature [4,5,33,34]. …”

“…Endocarditis is the most common manifestation of chronic QF15. Diagnosis of QF is through serological tests such as the complement fixation test, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and molecular tests for C. burnetii DNA6789101112131415. Coxiellosis in domestic animals of India has been reported by several researchers16171819.…”
