“…Ninety-three percent of the electric distribution substations (28/30) scored <75% compliance on housekeeping and 30% (7/30) were non-compliant (<100%) on fencing. Housekeeping is essential for fire prevention; however, it can easily deteriorate due to a lack of onsite supervision and maintenance [26]. Major factors that contributed to poor housekeeping were the visible weeds, leaking oil from the transformers and loose electrical parts on the ground in the electric distribution substations.…”

“…Among the most significant causes were “delay in decision making,” “incomplete design and estimate at the time of tender,” “design change during construction stage,” “errors and omission in both drawings and in the bill of quantity,” “delay of material delivery” and “poor site management.” Banobi and Jung (2019) investigated the causes of delays of power construction projects. It was found that the major causes of delay of unsuccessful projects were “poor cost estimation,” “vandalism,” “late delivery of material and equipment,” “late procurement orders for material and equipment” and “additional work attributable to errors.” Jongo et al. (2019) looked at causes and effective mitigation strategies of time and cost overruns in public building projects conducted in Tanzania.…”

“…unsuccessful projects were "poor cost estimation," "vandalism," "late delivery of material and equipment," "late procurement orders for material and equipment" and "additional work attributable to errors." Jongo et al (2019) looked at causes and effective mitigation strategies of time and cost overruns in public building projects conducted in Tanzania. These strategies can be viewed from the standpoint of the significant issues to address in these projects.…”

“…The study concludes that as the project environments become complex, state of the art approaches should be used in project scheduling as they are central to the construction projects' performance. Jongo, Tesha, Kassonga, Teyanga and Lyimo (2019) analyzed the mitigation measures in dealing with delays and cost overrun in public building projects in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania. This study identified mitigation measures in dealing with delay and cost overrun in public building project, in which out of 25 mitigation measures, effective project planning and scheduling was ranked first; followed by controlling design changes, and effective coordination and communication between parties.…”
