Fire pattern analysis and synthesis using EigenFires and motion transitions

Abstract: We introduce novel approaches of intuitive and easy‐to‐use realistic fire animation, starting from real‐life fire by image‐based techniques and statistical analysis. The results can be utilized as a pre‐rendered sequence of images in video games, motion graphics, and cinematic visual effects. Instead of physics‐based simulation, we employ an example‐based principal component analysis and introduce “EigenFires.” We visualize the main features of various fire samples to analyze their tracks and synthesize a new … Show more

“…To predict the damage caused by wildfires, Roger V. Hoang et al [13] established a V-Fire wildfire simulation and visualization system, using Huygens ellipse equation to calculate the fire spread rate by constructing the spread equation, generating data virtual environment from the real world related to topology and vegetation, and updating particle positions in real time to realize the fire spread. Nima Nikfetrat et al [14] proposed PCA based on the technical and statistical analysis of images to analyze the tracks of various fire samples by visualizing their main features and synthesize realistic flames by combining fire samples recorded at various high frame rates to edit the given fire animation sequence.…”
