Finite Range Effects on Fusion and/or Breakup of 6 He+ 238 U and 11 Li+ 208 Pb Systems

Abstract: We have studied the effects of the finite range of the interaction between the fragments of the projectile on the fusion and/or breakup of 6 He+ 238 U and 11 Li+ 208 Pb systems at near barrier energies within the framework of dynamic polarization potential approach. It has been found that at near barrier energies the maximum flux is lost to the breakup channel and at energies well above the Coulomb barrier the fusion coupled with the breakup channel opens up, initially with sharp rise and later becoming satura… Show more

“…Recent review articles dealing with the general subject of the fusion of weakly bound nuclei are available [17][18][19] For the 11 Li + 208 Pb reaction, more recent theoretical work [20] suggests that incomplete fusion and sequential complete fusion are negligible processes. Additional theoretical treatments of the fusion of 11 Li with 208 Pb have been made recently [21,22]. Elastic scattering measurements for 9,11 Li + 208 Pb have been performed [23].…”

“…This paper highlights the barrier modification effects introduced due to the EDWSP model and the coupled channel model in sub-barrier fusion dynamics of 32 32 16 S nucleus and multineutron transfer channels, which puzzles the behavior of sub-barrier fusion enhancement of 32;36 16 S þ 90;96 40 Zr reactions, is still unclear. Therefore, from the present work, the unambiguous conclusion with regard to the relative importance of multi-phonon vibrational couplings and neutron transfer couplings is directly evident.…”

“…In this connection, many attempts have been made to deduce the relevant information regarding the optimum form of nuclear potential by analyzing the large set of experimental data [10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. Generally, the static Woods-Saxon potential is most frequently used to address the heavy-ion reactions.…”
