Finite Element Study of Container Structure under Normal and High Temperature

Abstract: This paper does some research on the mechanical property of multilayer container structure under high temperature and gives some suggestions on how to make fire protection based on the performance-based fire design. Firstly, using the software of FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator), the fire background and fire heating release curve are determined. Through the simulation, the actual temperature curves (of the top and bottom temperature curves of the middle, door, and corner position in the container) are obtained an… Show more

“…In other works the assessment which focused on the compliance for ISO 1496 have been presented [6]. Some of them were combined with the stacking test scale and normal and high temperature [7,8]. But none from the paper above, it discusses the comprehensive within the ASME design rules and the numerical analysis which conform the ISO rules.…”

“…However, studies into the fire performance of modular structures are limited. One study considered fire simulation for a container building [27] and several studies investigated the performance of developing composite materials such as fibre reinforced polymer (FRP). Composite materials have advantages which make them well suited to application in modular building.…”

“…Finally, five experimental studies of container with holes were verified. Zha and colleagues [14][15][16] proposed the formula of container stiffness as the single layer and multi-span, multi-layer and single-span, and multi-layer and multispan based on the principle of displacement coordination and diaphragm theory. Then proposed a new isolation system based on friction energy between containers, and the relationship between equivalent damping ratio and friction coefficient of sliding isolation structure had been obtained.…”
