“…The wear debris from plastic material in metal-on-plastic (MoP) of hip prosthesis caused osteolysis (Ma et al, 1983;Livermore et al, 1990;Kabo et al, 1993), whereas wear debris from metal material in metal-on-metal (MoM) of hip prosthesis caused metallosis (Willis-Owen et al, 2011;Pesce et al, 2013). In the other hand, the biomaterial debris generated from the wear can lead to the aseptic loosening (Yang et al, 2007;Babic et al, 2020). This study will be focused on the MoM hip prosthesis.…”

“…Nessa linha, a condução de estudos que otimizem a geometria dos implantes de acordo com as especificidades anatômicas do paciente, tornase parâmetro primordial na otimização de projeto dos implantes. Estudos utilizando análise por elementos finitos podem ser apontados como um caminho para pesquisas de geometria e falhas por fadiga (Babić et al, 2020;Bingol et al, 2011;Ferrand, 2018;Steinhauser et al, 2006).…”

“…In a recent study ( Ortega et al, 2020 ), a finite element analysis (FEA) was performed that showed a stress concentration consistent with the experimentally observed location of crack initiation. In addition, the fatigue life of a hip implant and orthopedic plates were also recently investigated by comparing experiments and a linear elastic FEA in ( Babić et al, 2020 ), ( Parr et al, 2021 ). In these studies, FEA was able to accurately predict the location of fatigue crack initiations that were observed in the experiment.…”
