Finite Element Analysis of a Floating Rectangular Plate

Abstract: The free vibration characteristics of a floating rectangular plate considering the fluid-structure interaction effects between the plate and the reservoir are studied. The fluid is assumed to be inviscid, incompressible and the reservoir bottom is assumed to be horizontal and rigid. Finite element technique is used to solve this interaction problem. The eigen frequencies of the plate are computed and the effects of the flexibility of the plate, depth of the reservoir are investigated.
