Abstract:The finite-amplitude instability of the buoyancy-driven boundary layer is considered on a vertical plate immersed in a thermally stratified ambient medium, where the wall and surrounding fluid have different temperature gradients. Although the linear stability in this configuration has been investigated, the finite-amplitude solution arising from the critical instability has been studied only for specific parameter values. We extend this by using the amplitude expansion method. The primary bifurcations to the … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
