PurposeTo review literature on the nurses’ use and access to Internet Health Related Information (HRI). There is relatively little evidence in published literature on barriers, attitudes and how nurses utilize online health-related information.MethodsLiterature search was carried-out on Cumulative Indexes to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), MEDLINE, Google Scholar, Springer and Sage publications. The search timeframe has focused on the outburst of Internet usage between the years 2000 and 2014.ResultsQuality of available websites and databases containing health-related information vary widely in their accuracy, validity and reliability that require nurses to continuously evaluate their relevance.ConclusionEmphasis on the necessity for training in the use of information technology is important to the nurses’ continuous professional development. Literature showed a strong evidence of the increased access to the Internet by nurses to retrieve information related to clinical practice, which in turns enhance the quality of care and communication among nurses.

Aims: The current study investigates the student nurses' attitudes and opinions towards their health promotion role during the COVID-19 pandemic using social media. Background: Social media and networking have become the most secure modes of communication among health care providers and their clients during the COVID-19 pandemic all over the world. However, it is the primary means of disseminating health information about disease prevention and control. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 296 student nurses aged 19-49 enrolled at twelve Jordanian universities (6 public and six private) in Jordan. The research team developed the self-administered questionnaire to explore the student nurses' attitudes towards their health promotion role during the COVID-19 pandemic using social media and the Internet. Results: Findings revealed that the student nurses had positive attitudes towards their health promotion role during the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of student nurses are using social media to raise the awareness of their community about COVID-19 prevention. Conclusion: The current research findings provide baseline data on the student nurses' attitudes about the proper utilization of social media to enhance their community health about COVID-19. Given the student nurses' positive attitudes about their role in COVID-19 health promotion, we strongly recommend that they be provided with the necessary knowledge and skills to demonstrate effective health education.

In the wake of the 2013 Presidential reelection, states now face the reality of implementing the healthcare reform, including ACA section 2302 (Concurrent Care for Children). The purpose of our study was to examine the influence of economic, political, and legal factors on state implementation of ACA 2302. Using data from 2010 to 2012, our analysis revealed that for early implementers economic, political or legal factors did not influence implementation of ACA 2302. In 2011, states that were engaged in Medicaid cost containment efforts were more likely to implement ACA 2302 and in 2012, states experiencing a budgetary crisis were less likely to implement ACA 2302. Our findings suggest that state-level implementation of ACA 2302 may be an important bellwether for future healthcare reform implementations.
