Financial Hazard Prediction Due to Power Outages Associated with Severe Weather-Related Natural Disaster Categories

Abstract: Severe weather conditions not only damage electric power infrastructure, and energy systems, but also affect millions of users, including residential, commercial or industrial consumers. Moreover, power outages due to weather-related natural disasters have been causing financial losses worth billions of US dollars. In this paper, we analyze the impact of power outages on the revenue of electric power suppliers, particularly due to the top five weather-related natural disasters. For this purpose, reliable and p… Show more

“…Large power transformers are expensive, with high maintenance and replacement costs, and the harm caused by transformer accidents is huge. Early detection of power transformer failures can effectively reduce economic losses [6]. Oilimmersed transformers are widely used in power systems because of thier good insulation performance, cooling performance and long service life [7,8].…”

“…The imposition of substantial damages and blackouts at the distribution network level has been caused by the occurrence of adverse weather conditions and natural catastrophes, and the frequency and intensity of these incidents have been growing in recent years. Natural catastrophes have become more common in recent years as a result of climate change and global warming [1]. Some of these instances are more likely to occur depending on a region's geographical position, while others are less probable, but the rise in their incidence based on extant documentation is an obvious truth [2].…”
