Final-state Lambda-neutron interaction in kaon photoproduction from the deuteron

Abstract: The effects of the Lambda n interaction on cross sections and Lambda polarization in the reaction ( gamma +d to K++ Lambda 0+n) are investigated in the spirit of the impulse approximation for three different potential models which have quite different scattering lengths and effective ranges. The authors find the interaction causes a significant enhancement of the cross section for the exclusive process d( gamma , K+ Lambda 0)n for selected kinematics near threshold, and not so significant an enhancement for th… Show more

“…In a recent publication [21] we argued that also largemomentum transfer reactions such as pp → K + p [22][23][24] [25][26][27][28][29][30] are excellent candidates for extracting scattering lengths information. In reactions with large momentum transfer the production process is necessarily of a short-range nature.…”

“…The source of this inconsistency is attributed to the charge symmetry breaking (CSB) in ΛN interaction. Recent reports on precise measurements for 4 Λ H at MAMI [1] and 4 Λ He at J-PARC [2] support the large CSB effect in the ΛN interaction suggested by old emulsion experiments.…”

“…Most of the past efforts involving the ΛN interaction were made through hypernuclei. Results from these studies have highlighted a discrepancy between experimental data and theoretical calculations for the Λ binding energy of 4 Λ H and 4 Λ He. The source of this inconsistency is attributed to the charge symmetry breaking (CSB) in ΛN interaction.…”
