Filimonas zeae sp. nov., an endophytic bacterium isolated from maize root

Abstract: A novel Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, motile by gliding and filamentous strain, designated 772 T , was isolated from surface-sterilized root tissue of maize planted in the Fangshan District of Beijing, China. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain 772 T was closely related to Filimonas endophytica SR2-06 T andFilimonas lacunae YT21 T of the family Chitinophagaceae with sequence similarities of 99.0 and 96.9 %, respectively. However, the new isolate exhibited relatively low levels of DNA-DNA rela… Show more

“…The predominant and known polar lipid is PE consistent with previous descriptions of species of Filimonas [4][5][6]. In addition, the polar lipid profile of strain TTM-71 T was revealed to be distinct by comparison with two reference strains: Filimonas endophytica SR 2-06 T contained PE, APL1-APL5, AL1-AL2, PL1 and L1 [4]; Filimonas zeae 772 T contained PE, APL1-APL2, PL1-PL2 and L1 [5]. Therefore, there were several kinds of uncharacterized APL, AL, PL and L presenting individual differences.…”

“…Chitinophagaceae (phylum Bacteroidetes) comprises a ubiquitous bacterial family that was recently described in soil (Bailey, Fansler, Stegen, & McCue, 2013;Lv, Wang, Chen, You, & Qiu, 2016), freshwater (Leite et al, 2016;Siddiqi & Im, 2016), a hypersaline lake (Vavourakis et al, 2016), hot springs (Hanada, Tamaki, Nakamura, & Kamagata, 2014), maize roots (Gao et al, 2016) and human tumours (Lo et al, 2015). This is a clade with strong taxonomic support, even though few genomes have been fully sequenced to date.…”
