To assess scientific progress from global to author levels, a large body of bibliometric studies could be found in many fields but relatively scarcer in the realm of language and linguistic studies, especially at a journal level. Motivated by the commitment and competence shown by the Journal of Language and Linguistic Studies, this study presents its bibliometric portrait as captured by two pieces of software, Publish or Perish and VoSviewer. from the Microsoft Academic, one of the global abstract and citation databases. The descriptive and network analyses of the journal's bibliometric data revealed the patterns of publication, citation, authorship, keyword cooccurrence, and bibliographic coupling from 2005 to 2019. The first 15 publication years have seen 482 articles by 552 authors from 142 organizations of which Turkish ones were in the majority contributing to 1,291 total citations along with regional and global indexations including in Scopus, one of the largest bibliographic databases. Evolving around the unity of psychology, linguistics, and education/ pedagogy viewed from different perspectives, the journal has been a scholarly outlet for not only local but also global issues in the realm of language and linguistics. The next 15-publication years will see the journal's growth in "internationality" in terms of authorship due to the combination of increased annual publication and recent international indexation.

This study presents a retrospective review of the Australian Accounting Review (AAR) across its first 30 years of publication, 1991 to 2020. AAR’s academic contributions have grown by 17.01% year‐on‐year over this period, while its level of academic influence has risen by 20.21%. Authorship numbers have grown by 16.10% annually, from 11 authors in the year of inception to 969 individuals in 2020. Emerging initially as an important regional resource, the AAR has evolved to become an internationally renowned academic outlet with contributions sourced from 44 different countries. Emergent themes in the journal include integrated reporting, corporate social responsibility, investor protection and comprehensive income.

PurposeThis paper examines the leading publication trends including the extent and impact of intellectual capital research in the Journal of Intellectual Capital (JIC) over a two-decade period (2000–2020). The bibliometric analysis offers the description of publications trends such as key authors, articles, cited references, institutions and countries— in other words the extent and impact in the field. This paper also presents the knowledge structure (including conceptual, intellectual and social structures) of JIC, that is prominent themes, co-citation and bibliographic networks.Design/methodology/approachIn order to achieve research objectives, we collected the bibliographic information of the articles published in JIC for the period 2000 to 2020 from the Scopus database on 11.04.2020. The bibliographic information of 737 documents were analysed using to open source analysis tool, that is bibliometrics package in r software and VOSviewer. These tools were used to create the graphical visualization of bibliographic data on basis of co-occurrence, co-citation and bibliographic coupling.FindingsThe results show that the journal is progressing in terms of publication quantity and reputation in the field. To date, 737 documents have been published in JIC, which includes 659 research articles, eight editorials, seven notes and 63 review papers. This paper also portrays the author impact list in terms of most impactful articles published in JIC. Country-wise Italy, Australia, and USA exert maximum influence on JIC scholarship.Originality/valueBibliographic analysis offers a comprehensive understanding of past trends and presents the future direction of a journal.
