“…The world witnessed the most drastic effect of faulty autopilot system in 1983 when Korean Air Lines Flight 007 flying from Anchorage, Alaska, to Seoul, South Korea, deviated more than 200 miles into Soviet territory and got shot down killing all the crew and passengers [12]. When the reason for this navigational failure was analysed it was found that the flight was initially in heading mode later the crew might have forgotten to select inertial navigation system or the crew might have selected inertial navigation, but it never got activated.…”
