Field testing of distribution state estimator

Abstract: State Estimator is the basic functionality necessary for the "smart" operation of power networks, both in transmission and distribution side. Being integrated in a power management system and facing different quality of network data, robustness and efficiency are essential to provide accurate estimation of a power network operation state. Distribution State Estimator, applied in Distribution Management System development project in Guizhou Province in China, was tested in field operation. Estimation principles… Show more

“…The idea to divide the DN into areas (measurement areas, portions, main tree and subtrees, etc) is not new. 10,13,[34][35][36][37] However, one can neither find a formal definition of area nor a formalism for their determination. In this article, the DN is divided into areas in accordance with the observable branches.…”

“…It has already been introduced and chronologically listed. 7,10,13,[34][35][36][37] However, this article introduces a unique procedure for dealing with powers/currents measurements. It is based on the incidence matrix for determination areas of DNs without limitation on DNs' dimensions and the number of power/current measurements.…”

“…Also, regarding the three-phase voltage estimation of all distribution systems nodes, currently only a limited number of utilities have adopted this estimation process (Lubkeman et al 2000;Simendic et al 2005;Katic et al 2013;Atanackovic and Dabic 2013). However, the tests in real systems indicate that this is feasible and sufficiently accurate for the purpose of real-time monitoring (Simendic et al 2005;Katic et al 2013;Melo et al 2019).…”
