Abstract:Trichomycterus piratymbara é endêmica do Brasil, conhecida de dois afluentes da bacia do rio Grande, na região da represa de Furnas, bacia do alto rio Paraná, estado de Minas Gerais. Embora haja um problema taxonômico, pois a espécie não apresenta uma diagnose que justifique plenamente sua diferenciação de outras congêneres, existe uma grande quantidade de riachos com habitat potencial e não há ameaças evidentes que a coloquem em risco. Portanto, T. piratymbara foi categorizada como Menos Preocupante (LC).
