Abstract:Traditional methodologies for fibrosis quantification involve histological measurements, staining with Masson’s trichrome and picrosirius red (PSR), and label-free imaging using second harmonic generation (SHG). The difficulty of label-free cardiac SHG imaging is that both collagen (i.e., collagen 1 fibrils) and myosin are harmonophores that generate SHG signals, and specific identification of either collagen or myosin is difficult to achieve. Here we present an alternate method of quantifying cardiac fibrosis… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
