“…The high degree of technical success of 96% reported in our study is comparable with American and European studies and is also as per SCVIR guidelines. [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11] The most common reason for technical failure was difficulty in cannulising arteries. 12 In our study majority of cases were canulated at the first attempt and remaining in second attempt.…”

“…Micro catheters were used more often than the European trials. [8][9][10] This could be due to individual preference, micro catheter cost may also play a role. Nontarget embolisation is major hazard in patient undergoing UAE.…”

“…UFE is recently growing and becoming one of the main treatment modalities for symptomatic fibroids (9)(10)(11). However, 5-10% of the patients who underwent UFE are refractory; one of the most common causes is ovarian collateral to the fibroids (12)(13)(14).…”

“…This is sometimes severe enough to require hysterectomy 8,9 . Other major complications include pulmonary embolism 13 , ovarian failure 8,9,16,17 and vaginal expulsion of a submucous myoma after embolisation 18 . Extensive ischaemic necrosis after uterine artery embolisation leading to necrosis of the bladder and vaginal vault necrosis has not been previously reported.…”

“…However, bladder necrosis following pelvic artery embolisation has been described 19 . The extent of ischaemia with consequent necrosis is thought to be related to the particle size of the embolising material, with smaller ones being able to lodge into the more distal arterioles causing more ischaemia 9,20 .…”
