ÖZETAmaç: Primer pterjium tedavisinde konjonktivalimbal otogreft transplantasyonu sonuçlarını değerlendirmek.Yöntemler: Primer pterjiumu olan 140 hastanın 148 gözü çalışmaya dahil edildi. Tümüne pterjium eksizyonu ile sütürlü konjonktivalimbal otogreft transplantasyonu uygulandı. Bulgular:Hastaların 80'i erkek (%57,1), 60'ı kadın (%42,9) idi. Yaş ortalaması 48,5 ± 14,8 (19-95) yıl idi. İki (%1,3) gözde temporal yerleşimli olan pterjium diğer tüm hastalarda nazalde idi. Hastalar ortalama 21,1 ± 8,7 ay (8-38) takip edildi. Takipler sırasında 8 (% 5,4) gözde sütüre bağlı inflamasyon, 4 (%2,7) gözde nüks saptandı. Bunlar dışında hiçbir komplikasyona rastlanmadı. Nüksle-rin tamamı ilk 6 aylık takipte oluştu. Sonuç:Primer pterjiumda konjonktivalimbal otogreft transplantasyonunun düşük nüks ve komplikasyon oranı-na sahip, etkili bir yöntem olduğu söylenebilir. Sütürlü uygulama sütürlere bağlı inflamasyon ve irritasyonun fazla olmasına rağmen ekonomik bir yöntem olması nedeniyle primer pterjiumda tercih edilebilecek cerrahi seçenekler-den biridir.Anahtar kelimeler: Pterjium, konjonktivalimbal otogreft transplantasyonu, nüks ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the results of conjunctivolimbal autograft transplantation in the treatment of primary pterygium. Methods:One hundred and forty-eight eyes of 140 patients with primary pterygium were included in the study. Pterygium excision with sutured conjunctivolimbal autograft transplantation was performed to all of the eyes.Results: Eighty patients (57.1%) were male and 60 (42.9%) were female. The mean age of the patients was 48.5 ± 14.8 years (19-95). 2 (1.3%) in eyes with pterygium, which was located in the temporal, the other eyes with pterygium, which was located in the nasal. The mean follow up time was 21.1 ± 8.7 months (range 8-38). During the follow-up period infection of the sutures was observed 8 (5.4%) eyes and recurrence of the pterygium was observed in 4 (2.7%) eyes within six months after surgery. No other complications occurred. Conclusion:Conjunctivolimbal autograft transplantation has low recurrence and complication rate. İt can be said to be an effective method in primary pterygium. On the application sutures has more inflammation and irritation; although sutured economical method may be preferred due to the primary pterygium surgery is important one of the options.

Background: Traditionally, sutures are used to attach skin graft. Periocular skin reconstruction is peculiar in respect of constant movement of the graft bed due to lid movements. This study was aimed at evaluating the use of fibrin glue in skin graft for cicatricial ectropion.Methods: This was prospective, non-randomized, interventional study. Total 10 patients with cicatricial ectropion were recruited. After dissection of scar, skin defect was covered with full thickness post auricular graft. Fibrin glue used to attach the graft over host bed. Bolster tied and bandage applied. Patients were evaluated for graft stability, opposition of graft host junction and graft uptake.Results: The mean age was 30.9 years. Patients were divided into three groups i.e. 20-30 years, 30-40 years and 40-50 years. There were 05 patients (50%) in first group, 03 patients (30%) in second group and 02 patients (20%) in third group. Majority (90%) were male. Following injury 70% patients reported between 1-3 years. Grade 3 ectropion was most common (60%). Average duration of surgery was 79.3 min (standard deviation of 14.15 min). Horizontal dimensions of graft, 32 mm maximum and 26 mm minimum (average 29 mm). Vertical dimensions of graft, 18 mm maximum and 12 mm minimum (average 15 mm). Graft uptake was complete in all cases. No cases of graft infection or necrosis. However, 03 patients had residual ectropion.Conclusions: Use of fibrin glue in attaching full thickness skin graft is an effective and safe technique with good uptake and stable graft host junction.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficiency of a hydrogel adherent ocular bandage for sealing of scleral tunnel incisions in human eye globes. METHODS: A 4-mm scleral tunnel incision was made in each of 10 globes and bursting pressure was measured using the Seidel test to check for wound leakage. Globes were sealed using either two interrupted 10-0 nylon sutures (n = 5) or an adherent ocular bandage in the form of polyethylene glycol hydrogel (n = 5). Bursting pressure was then measured for a second time. RESULTS: Bursting pressure was significantly higher after wound sealing in both groups. There were no statistically significant differences in bursting pressure between the two groups before or after sealing. CONCLUSIONS: The adherent ocular bandage successfully protected the incision in ex vivo human globes immediately after surgery, with a sealing efficiency comparable to two nylon sutures, suggesting that it is a safe and effective alternative to conventional suturing.
