Abstract:Fiber-reinforced SiC matrix composites are being considered for application in hot-gas turbines. A forced-flow thermal-gradient chemical vapor infiltration process has been developed to fabricate composites of thick-walled tubular geometry common to many components. Fibrous preforms of different fiber architectures (3dimensionally braided and filament wound) have been investigated to accommodate components with different mechanical property requirements. This paper will discuss the fabrication of tubular fiber… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
