Abstract:Autoionizing electronic states are common intermediates in processes initiated by electron impact or high-energy radiation. These states belong to the continuous spectrum of the Hamiltonian, and as such cannot be treated with methods developed for bound electronic states. Here we propose a new model for describing metastable electronic states, which combines discretized Feshbach projection formalism and multireference perturbation theory and exploits absorbing potential to generate the basis of the coupled val… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
