Ferroelectric Fractional‐Order Capacitors

Abstract: Poly(vinylidene fluoride)‐based polymers and their blends are used to fabricate electrostatic fractional‐order capacitors. This simple but effective method allows us to precisely tune the constant phase angle of the resulting fractional‐order capacitor by changing the blend composition. Additionally, we have derived an empirical relationship between the ratio of the blend constituents and the constant phase angle to facilitate the design of a fractional‐order capacitor with a desired constant phase angle. The … Show more

“…Unfortunately, these elements are not yet commercially available [17][18][19] and, therefore, they have to be approximated by appropriate integer-order networks. A possible solution for approximating fractional-order capacitors is the employment of an RC network, [20][21][22] but this su®ers from the requirement for re-designing the network in order to change the characteristics of the fractional-order element.…”

“…S2 and S3)], and dipolar relaxation of ferroelectric polymers. 5,44 By carefully selecting the parameters of the composite, the spectra of these three mechanisms can be moved to overlap, which eventually yields a CPA with a broadband CPZ. The value of the CPA can be tuned by adjusting the volume ratio of MoS 2 and/or using a different type of ferroelectric polymer (since every ferroelectric polymer's dipolar relaxation frequency is different 44 ).…”
